English book review The Kite Runner

Book Review

Theme

I read the book "The Kite Runner" By Khaled Hosseini,
I think that then main theme of this book is Redemption because we can see that Amir is trying to redeem himself from Baba because he is responsible for his mothers death , She died giving birth to Amir and Amir has always thought that his Father did not really like him because he killed his Fathers love of his life .
Amir tries to redeem himself by entering a Kite running competition `to make his Father proud of him.

Another time where Amir redeemed himself was when Amir saw Hassan gettin rapped, Amir looks away and daydreams about all the memories that they have had together , Amir feels guilty for not taking stand and helping Hassan and does not talk to him for 2 weeks ,  Amir eventually talks to baba about getting new servants because he couldnt stand the guilt , Baba declined him and yelled at him , This strained Baba and Amir's relationship ... Baba says " Hasson is exactly were he is supposed to be"
As Amir grows older he still holds the guilt with him , At the age of 38 he goes to Kabul to save Hassans son because he got put into an orphanage that Baba opened , Hassan and his wife got shot .
Hassans sons name is Sehrab ,Amir  plan is to bring him home with him  because he finds out that his childhood bully is raping Asseff , Amir could never stand up to Asseff  so he does this to prove that he can , To make his now dead father and dead friend proud. Amir succeeds in redeeming himself and overcomes Asseff.

Features that I enjoyed

I really enjoyed when Amir was practicing out in the snow the day before the kite running competition and how was there for hours and he was the last one out and baba was screaming with joy at the side of the balcony , this is the only moment when we see baba really proud of his son and Amir said it was the best day of his life !
Another part i enjoyed was when Amir decided to save Sehrab , because he has never stood up to Asseff , And he did for the first time , this is a huge step for him.
I also really liked the part in the book were Amir pretends to be reading a book to Hassann but he is making up his own stories , Hassann was completely oblivious to this but when amir was finished telling his made up story Hassann started clapping his hands and told Amir that it was the best story he has ever heard.
Amir started to write his own stories  and he showed it to Ali (servant) & he said that it was great and that he should have a future in the writing industry but just then the war in Afghanistan started . This part of the book was very striking .

My Favourite Character in this book was Hassann  because he was such a loyal friend to Amir and he always had his back , he was a quiet character and wasnt very educated , he could read or write but he could read Amir so well and he could almost know what Amir was thinking .

The dialogue in this book is mainly between Amir And Hassann , & the rest of it is Amir talking about memories etc...

I Really enjoyed reading this book The Kite Runner  is one of my favorite books. This is a page turner with complex characters and situations that will make you think hard about friendship, good and evil, betrayal, and redemption. It is intense and contains some graphic scenes; however, it is not disturbing. A great book by many measures. The books awakens curiosity about the world around us. Amir, son of a wealthy Afghan businessman, is best friends with Hassan, the son of the household servant. Amir lacks the courage to defend his friend from the brutality of local bullies; this action and the resulting guilt and shame changes the destiny of both families , This book is truely an eye opener .
