History presentation

on thursday a few of us had to present the projects we made to a 3rd year class

we where meant to be going to a self help Africa work shop but it got canceled due to the slippy roads cus of the snow : /

Podcasting

On Friday we had a Podcasting work shop ,
it was really good.
What is podcasting?
Podcasting is a wonderful way of allowing people to share there work and experiences with huge audiences over the internet !
Myself Niamh Siobhan Saidhbh  Lauren & Alison made our own podcast ,
We pretended we where a radio station that made up an ad to promote the fact that there is no Irish food take away fast food shops .
it was really fun , we recorded it and then edited it by putting backing music on it :)
I hope i get to do more podcasting :)

Football match

Hey , We had our first match against Clane school ,
It was a really good match but unfortunately we lost ,
Score: 2-1

Lauren scored our goal , :) She played for Ireland !

Review of the week

The week itself was a great work and I learned sooo much ,
I wasn't really interested in becoming a guard but now im kinda considering it cus it seems like interesting fun :)
I had such a good time and had fun with 11 other TYs from different schools :)
Im not sure that i actually got into the whole working routine thing because as the garda said he cant really make us do work when the guardas work varies everyday , and that they would of loved to of brought us around on the beat but just wouldn't be save yeno ..
it was really good :)

Last day of the guards :)

: Last day :( We had a half day , Decetives came into leixlip guarda station and showed us how to take finger prints , was really interesting , we all got to hold a gun , it was really heavy ! then when the decetives left we told Niall and Aden (the guards that where with us the whole time) asked us what we liked about the whole week and what we didnt like etc .. . Then we had to intereview aden because Mr. C told us too ..

Day 4 :D Helicopterrrrr

:On Thursday we went to the air police in Baldonal, it was really interesting and we saw all the helicopters , we saw them taking off and landing , we also saw the benefits of air police as the helicopter can follow a robber murderer etc... until the police that are in the cars get to them . We saw a chase on the projector aswell , Then after that we went to a road safety talk , it was kinda boring but i did learn from it ,.

Day 3 , Dogs and houses :D

: on Wednesday we went to the Dog unit and the Mounted unit . 
The mounted unit is where all the guard horses are , it was really interesting , the horses where huge , the biggest one was 18.5 hands :)
we got to pet then :D in the mounted unit we saw a power point of when the horses where getting ready for St.Patricks day in Dublin , alot of work and effort goes into them , It was really interesting and i had fun :)
Then after that we went to the dog unit , we saw loads of dogs ,  the guards tend to pick the Alsatians and Labradors, the dogs where bomb sniffing and drug sniffing and also dogs that sniff dead bodies , we where all scared but the dogs where all friendly, they loved attention , we petted them for ages and talked to there owners about how they behave around young children & all , it was really good :)

Work Exp day 2 , Courts :)

: On Tuesday we went to the 4 courts , It wasn't great , we just went and saw the 4 courts and saw they people in it , we didn't listen to any cases , after the four courts we went to the new courts , they where good because we got to sit in and listen to the Collins trial , that's the trial that was with the professional boxer who hit the bouncer in the boxing arena , it was really good and interesting and the when i got home i saw the court trial on the news , After the new courts we went to another guarda museum in Dublin somewhere , We saw all the uniform and stuff like that, It was in an old jail which made it more interesting & the guide told alot of interesting stories and we saw loads of guns and stuff like that .

Work Exp day Templemoore :)

Sorry haven't blogged in ages ,was doing work experience and mid term and all . 
Work experience was great . I'm gonna tell you about the whole week 
 
Day 1: On Monday we went to Tipperary to the garda cóiliste , This is where all the students that want to be a guard go , there was no students in it though because the country can't afford to keep it open at the moment and they don't know when it will re-open , 
I had to dress formal , The guards told us to be quiet while being in the colaiste , we went to a little guarda museum and we saw all the old uniforms and more modern uniform and what all the badges and crests mean on the guards jacket . After the museum we went upstairs to the lecture halls and we saw where all the students would be when they are lecturing , there was around 200 seats in each lecture hall , the guard that was giving us the talk said that there sometimes wouldn't eve be enough seats at some serious lectures , after that we went for lunch in the cafe , By then i was talking to everybody , finding a few mutual friends :)
we then went to the bedrooms where the students stay , they where kinda small but livable ,

Mini company change of plan

Okay so i know we have changed our ideas a few times now , but its gettin closer and closer to the deadline and it will take to long to get a protatype made for our"eye see you" company , so we have decided to go with one of our first ideas , "Beady Bits"
Where just going to customize braclets and watches and all sorts of stuff like that and try to sell the ASAP

Science Project ,

We did the experiment for science :D Yeoow
We looked up on google to see what substance would show up under a black light , it said that lemon juice and washing powder would , so we tried both of these out but they didnt work , so after further research we saw that vasaline shows up under a uv light , we tested it incase  it didnt , but it did :D
So on monday we but vasaline on our hands and just ate in our lunch room , At the end of lunch we turned off the lights in our lunch room and switched on the uv light , everything that we had touched showed up under the uv light in a greenie colour , we took pictures and took note of the things we touched ,
in a few days we will be gettin a swab of our hands and putting it on an agar dish and will be examining the result , this will show us how important it is to wash you hands .

Tech again

Just created our logo for our car that we will be making in tech :)

Our circle

Yesterday we had girls from the other class , class "emnet" come into our class and they brought us to the hall and we played loads of games like zip zap boing and loads more ,
it was so much fun .
we also got an object , i got a ring , i had to pretend i was the ring and i had to say  who i belonged to and write down my life story , :D
then we all got pictures and we had to say who we where and what our problem was and all
it was great

Dancing

Yesterday in school was so fun :D
we did dancing in school for PE
we learned a really cool dance to Rihanna" Only Girl"
At the end of the class we all had a dance off hahaha , Roisin Won that haha

we are in the process of mixing songs together and working on the dancing and stuff like that .
One of Niamhs neighbour is a music technician  so she is going to ask him if he will mix all our songs together .

Halloween dress up

Today we all dressed up for halloween ,I dressed up in my onezie with steph and lauren . we were triplets haha .
Some of the teachers dressed up too , it was really funny haha .
& at the start of the day there was screams and people saying "get out" on the Intercom , We all didnt know where it was coming from haha .
I am still in school dressed up .ha
We are having a parade soon and me and steph are going to be ion it . Ill let you know how all goes

Yesterday we had a relationship talk :)
it was really fun , margret-our guest speaker,was talking to us about our relationship between you and your friends , family and peers .

Naas

Yo . 
Today both TY classes went to the Naas workshop again :)
we talked about our protucts and other ways to promote and advertise them .
But we disgarded our car finder idea because we found out that while we were doing our market research that the cost to get our device manufactored would be thousands .
So tomorrow in Mini Company class we are going to have to think up of a product that will be cheap :)

Colour me beautiful ;)

Today in school we had 2 hours of guest speakers talking about what colours suit us . Like our complexion and our ora and things like that . 
We were all put into the "soft" catigory  , Colours like kaki green suit me and navy . 
And light shades of lipstick and peachie blush . :D
it was really fun : ) 
I'll have to think of what colours suit me next time i go shoppin ;)

I love it .

tag Rugby

For the last few weeks there has been tag rugby coaches coming into the school and teaching us how to play the sport :D

It is really fun and we all work as a team and have a great time.

It is Kinda like less rough version of rugby rugby . 

Can't wait until our class gets really good and starts playing matches :D

Home ec Project

In home ec as I said already we are making a dress .
we got all our material . 12 meters of netting for the under of the dress hah .
its soo puffy .
our theme is black and white , we got back netting and & got leopard print material , we made it into a leotard of some discription hah . i hope it will turn out well .
it does'nt look that bad tbh ;)
Our budget is 15€ , i hope we can stay with that amount of money haha  .

Music Project

For music as I have already told you we have been  put into groups for our own band . We are doing an African themed band and we will be combining loads of African songs together to make one big song .
there is 8 people in our band .

We are all playing separate instruments , I am playing a Djembe , which is a traditional African instrument and Steph is also playing another African drum .
Should be great fun :D cant wait to perform it :D

English play

For English we are doing a play on the poem "but you didn't" by Meryl Glass .
We have a narrator , Niamh P, who is reading out parts of the poem while we act it out .

we have to start sorting out our outfits for the play , & we have the script written out already and we have to try to learn all our words off by heart .It won't take too long because it isn't that hard .
It should be fun acting out the play infront of a live audience :D

Mini Company Talk 8 )

on Monday we had a mini company talk for 80 minutes about mini company,
we told the women what our project was on , We were going to make the band to put a watch face on .
she said that the judges don't like jewelry as a mini company so we had brainstorm about things that annoy us so , we said that it annoys everybody when they can't find there car when there in a car park so we thought that it would be good if we put a light on the roof of the car that it would be easier to find and  if it was day time it would make a sound .
We thanked the girl for coming and she said she will come back and she would like to see a model our product for next month .

Geography project . ;)

In Geography we are all doing projects on different countries of the world .

I was asked to do a project on tow 3nd world countries .

I picked to do my first one on the Democratic Republic of Congo and I hav'nt picked one for my second one yet . 

I chose to do it on the congo because I have alot of friends from there .

I started doing research for it and i have been searching for flights for my virtual trip to the Congo , but it  is very hard to find a cheap direct flight .                                                                                                       (image from travelblog.com)

One month

On the Monday we went to a talk in Naas :D


It was really fun , there was like 4 other schools there and wee all where talking about mini Company :


We had to come up with 50 Ideas and say them out loud to all the other schools , I think we have came to a decision that we are going to get a key finder , car finder , and mobile phone finder manufactured , we have to find out how much it will cost first and if we don’t have enough money to make it we will have to come up with something cheaper .


In pastoral care we drew the outline of our hand in our copy or on a piece of paper and had to pass it around the class and our whole class wrote in the hand what they liked about us : D


We finished out our 1 page proposal for our science project , that is due in tomorrow , now all we have to do is start experimenting .

The whole week we were practicing a dance for our fun walk , it is too the song by S club 7 ♪ “reach” ♪ . & we preformed our dance on Friday and it went great apart from we let Ms.O’c fall but the judges didn’t see ;) ha . She dressed up as a star and we all wore yellow :D

&also for technology we were researching on the internet about the formula 1 car contest and about all the rules for it.

Week 3 Of TY

Week 3 of Ty has been  the best week yet .
On monday we were all up bright and early for our trip to Carlingford Adventure Centre In o.Louth . Ms.R and Ms.O'c Came with us , we left at 7.30 in the morning and it took us an hour and a half to get there . We had alot of fun on the bus on the way over.
when we got to Carlingford we were straight into activities . We walked up a big hill into a big field where a load fo activities where . We were put into groups And where all given a map and told to find tasks , our first task we had to do was when we had to walk over woden pipes with a big barell and we had to imagine the pipes where water pipes and we had to replace a tank for another tank , We were walking over freezing water and if we fell in we would have to start the whole task again . We didnt complete that task so we didnt get any points (gems) .
Our next task was the Low ropes chlange , it was really hard but it was fun , there was three in each grup and we had to balance on poles , walk over see-saws and  climb through tires hanging on ropes , i thought that that task was the hardest , After that we did a chalange called the ball in gutter , we all had a part of a cutter each and we had to get a ball from one end of the obsticle , and then after that we all had to work as a team to build a bridge over a small amount of water using 2 planks of wood , it took us a while but we got it in the end with only 2 people falling in haha . 
That night we went on a hill walk up the mountains , it took us two hours and at the end we had to crawl under a little tunnel , it was pitch black , i could'nt see a thing , i might aswell of had my eyes closed , there was water flowing through it aswell , it was so fun :) .We also made a raft and jumped of the peir in the sea , and i was in the middle of a kettle , thats like a huricane in the water :) it was so cool !
The next day we went on high ropes , it was really fun , we had to walk across tight ropes and up ladders but of course we were in a harness hahaa .
and then went orienteering up in the moutains , it was pretty fun .
Then we went home on the bus at 5 o'clock ,A few of us fell asleep .
When I got home I fell straight asleep .
The next day i woke up and i was nervious because I was getting my results for my junour cert results , we had  half day and I was delighted with my results ! I enjoyed myself celbrating :)

Week 2 in TY :)

Week 2:

Second week of Ty , I’m getting into the swing of the time table and different classes like careers and mini company etc ..

I have enjoyed it all so far .

On Monday a quest speaker came into the school and we spent the whole day talking about what we want to be when were older , what our interests are and what our personalities are .. I learned that I have a bubbly personality represented by a mad cow :D

On Tuesday for Home economics we got our designs drawn up for our project , and got our plain white t-shirt and trousers, we cut our t-shirt so that it will fit our model .

In Science we are still trying to think of something to do our project on will hopefully have thought of something for next week …

In Pastoral care we wrote on a sheet about our personality and put it up on the wall ( :

In Art we drew a picture of a teddy bear , I didn’t come out to bad J

And in Tech today we used the laptops and we made cubes circles and pyramids :D .

&also for geography we were assigned a project and we have already started doing research for it . We are in a group of 3 we are all doing 2 projects each , Lauren is doing two projects on two  1^st world  countries  , Lauren T. is doing two projects on two 2^nd world countries and I am doing mine on two 3^rd world countries .

First week of TY ( :

First week of TY has been great so far .We have already started a bit of work on the projects in Home economics & Science , we are working in a team on four for my Home economics project , we have to design a outfit starting from scratch with just a pair of white trousers and a plain white T-shirt , it should be great fun :D
   In Science we are working In a group of 3, we are still deciding on what to our project on ..
In Careers we are discussing what we want to do in the future , I would like to have something to do with children so I think I would like to do Montessori teaching.
Not much homework has been assigned , different to all the other years, only in Spanish and history so far ( : 
For Music we are going to be put into groups so that we can form a band together and we will be recorded so that it can be played at the end of the year for TY night.
Pastoral care is a subject that I have not heard of before , our teacher for it is Ms.KB , she said that we will be giving each other manicures and hand massages later on in the year , Can’t wait,.
on Tuesday we wrote about ourself on a big sheet of paper like about our interests and star sign etc… and but it up on the wall .  : D
